Home-stay at Coorg (Markara).
We wish to share our bitter-sweet experience about a short home stay at Markara in Coorg. We stayed at “Wind Crest” belonging to Mrs. Bollo, 5km. from Mahindra Holiday Resort. We went there with prior reservation for two days 14th & 15th January 2010. Our original programme was to reach Markara only on 15th. We advanced the date to 14th as 15th was solar eclipse and road journey was not adviseable on a solar eclipse day. We reached 14th evening about 5 p.m. The atmosphere was splendid. The cottage was well furnished. The dinner that night and the breakfast next morning were excellent. Suddenly the land lady dropped a bomb shell and conveyed to us through the domestic servants that there will be no further food supply after breakfast on the 15th as it was a weekly holiday for their servants!! If that was the case, they should not have accepted our booking. Alternatively they should have warned us in advance that there will be no food supply on 15th as their servants would be on leave. In such a case we would not have made the reservation. We did not wish to make a fuss about the unsavoury development and suggested that they serve us some bread toast and a sumpteous fruit salad for lunch. They agreed but subsequently sent us four raw apples instead of the promised fruit salad. We thought that was adding insult to injury. We are senior citizens and were quite dissappointed that the owners who appeared to be educated persons should have conducted in the manner they did which leaves a lot to be desired. We are publishing it on the website for the benefit of those who may be attracted to their “Wind Crest”. We are available on e-mail: krishvalentine@yahoo.com to answer any further questions.
